Simona Rukuizaite
Simona Rukuizaite is a visual artist born and based in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Her creative practice is based on developing a close relationship with raw materials. The material becomes an essential means of influence - a tool of cognition, a mediator between the viewer and the content.
In her work, a narrative emerges through materiality as a cultural reference encrypted in a visual form. Reflecting on the distinction between natural and artificial materials, she seeks to unfold connections between traditional methods and contexts of contemporary art. Simona is mainly working with hand-grounded earth pigments and natural stones in painting and mosaic techniques.
